Rwanda national football league side Musanze FC have appointed former Uganda international George Semwogerere as head coach until the end of the season.
Semwogerere replaces Hussein Barack, who left the club on mutual consent on Tuesday, after a dismal run of in the league, according to the club secretary general, Mussa Masumbuko.
Masumbuko said they decided to let Barack go after a return of two wins, three draws and four defeats in the league this season.
"Barack is no longer with us, and we already have a replacement in place until the end of the season when we plan and decide for the long-term. We have appointed Mr Semwogerere because of his deep understanding of regional football,” said Masumbuko.
Barack joined the Musanze at the start of the second round during the 2014/15 season after the sacking of Godfroid Okoko, who is currently in charge of Mukura FC.
Born November 21, 1966, Semwogerere, who holds a CAF A coaching license, played for the Uganda Cranes for many years while he is also a legend of Express FC where he played most of his league football.
The former defender was Express head coach in 2006 while he also had coaching stints at Kiira Young and Tanzania’s Mutibwa Sugar FC before being appointed Somalia national head coach from 2014 through 2015.
The 49-year is expected to start his new duties on Monday.
Musanze currently sit 9th in the league table with nine points after nine rounds of matches — the league will resume after the CHAN on February 7.
