Zambia beat Uganda 1-0 in their second Group B match on Saturday at Umuganda Stadium to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN), leaving the Cranes, on one point, with only a mathematical chance of advancing.

Chipolopolo veteran captain Christopher Katongo scored the lone goal of the match in the first half to break the hearts of thousands of Ugandan fans, who came into the game hoping to see their team improve on the 2-2 draw from the opening game against Mali last week.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe became the second team to be eliminated from the 4th editions taking place in Rwanda after losing 1-0 to Mali on Saturday, to make two loses in two group matches. Zimbabwe face Uganda in their last match.

The victory also edged Mali closer to the quarter-finals—all they need is a draw against Zambia in their last group game on Wednesday at Kigali Regional Stadium.

The win was also sweet revenge to Mali, who were beaten b y Zimbabwe in quarter-finals at the third edition of the biennial continental tournament in 2014 in South Africa.
