Former Rwanda international striker Labama ‘Kamana’ Bokota is in advanced talks with AS Muhanga for a possible move this January, club officials have confirmed.
The DR Congo-born forward arrived in Muhanga District last Saturday and has since been training with the team.
According to assistant coach Felix Mbonyizanye, his football touch is still the same old, and young players are already learning a lot from him.
If talks go well, the former Rayon Sports and APR FC striker Bikota is expected to sign for relegation-threatened club until the end of the season.
"Bokota is still a fine footballer, everyone here has been surprised by his footwork and work rate in training so far. If he signs, he is going to be a crucial part of the team, especially in our attacking line,” Mbonyizanye told Times Sport on Thursday.
Bokota first arrived in Rwanda in 2006, joining Rayon Sports from DR Congo’s AS Vita Club, after one season and a half, he joined archrivals APR in 2008 and served the military side for one season before returning to DRC to play for FC Les Stars and later DC Motema Pembe in 2011.
He rejoined Rayon Sports late 2011 but left the club shortly, citing family problems. The veteran striker also played for Amavubi between 2007 and 2010, scoring nine goals from 20 international appearances.
