Rwanda’s Paralympian Hermas Cliff Muvunyi last week camped in Gicumbi to start intensive preparations for the upcoming Dubai Grand prix circuit slated for March 15-16 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The 27-year-old Muvunyi had an outstanding record last year after qualifying for the 2016 Paralympic Games both in 400m and 1500m. His dream is to win a medal in Rio de Janeiro and will compete in this grand prix seeking for a better platform for preparations and experience.

"I have decided to train in Gicumbi because of its high altitude, and it will help me reduce my time lapse as well as increase my physical strength,” Muvunyi told Times Sport in an Interview yesterday

Muvunyi, who won gold in the Men’s 400m T46 category at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville also revealed that he is training alongside other athletes Robert Kajuga, Potien Ntawuyirushintege and Jean Baptiste Ruvubi.

"My target is to win a medal and I am sure I will start from this Dubai grand prix,” added Muvunyi

The two day annual tournament is set to attract top athletes from the world to get a taste of what they can expect during September’s Paralympics Games.
