Emma Le Grand, a.k.a Lion Eyes, is among a few local radio presenters, reggae musicians who have managed to earn fame from their fans. Not long ago I had a wonderful weekend at Passadena.

The Rwandan community of Rastafarians had gathered and staged a concert in tribute to the South African and world-renowned reggae star Lucky Dube, who was shot dead in an attempted carjacking on October 18 of last year.

The start was colourful, and a sea of people flocked to pay tribute to the reggae legend. But late in the evening, the DJ decided to betray the crowd by playing other music styles that didn’t correspond to the night’s ceremony.

Many were disappointed, and the only solution was to leave. Our choice was One Love bar, a happening joint in Kimihurura famously known for Rastafarians.

At One Love, my friends and I had lots of fun; we immediately forgot all the disappointments we had suffered in the previous hours.

In fact, I was having so much fun that I failed to notice it was getting light. I left the bar at almost 7am and went home. I was extremely hungry and very tied! But I can’t do much apart from falling into the bed.

I woke up at midday the next day, had a swift shower and lunch.
