Rwanda international Jacques Tuyisenge will join Kenya champions Gor Mahia after the upcoming Africa National Championship (CHAN).

The Police skipper has already signed a two-year contract with the Kenyan side after both teams reached a deal, Police FC officials confirmed yesterday.

The development follows weeks of negotiations between the teams and the forward.

Tuyisenge is also the captain of the Amavubi side that’s preparing to take part in the fourth CHAN edition which gets underway in Kigali on Saturday.

The US$ 40,000 (about Rwf30 million) transfer deal – the most expensive ever involving a Rwandan side – was confirmed yesterday by Police FC spokesperson, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Jean de Dieu Mayira.

"It’s a done deal, Tuyisenge will join Gor Mahia after CHAN,” Police FC spokesperson Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Jean de Dieu Mayira told Times Sport.

"It was a hard decision for us to make, he was a very important player for us and we would have loved to keep him for longer but it was not possible. We wish him well in his future endeavors,” he said.

The 24-year old striker joined the law enforcers side in the 2012 summer transfer window and has since been a key member of the team helping them lift last year’s Peace Cup.

He was named club captain in September 2014.

Tuyisenge was the scorer of the lone goal last Sunday when Rwanda beat neighbours DR Congo in an international friendly in Rubavu as part of both countries’ preparations for the CHAN tournament.

He also scored three goals for the Amavubi at the regional CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup last December in Ethiopia.

The former Kiyovu SC and Etincelles striker heads to Gor Mahia on a record US$ 40,000 transfer fee (about Rwf30 million).
