RE: "Developments that shaped City of Kigali in 2015” (The New Times, January 7).
I agree, the car-free zone has potential to become a great public space in the City of Kigali if we collectively and consistently continue to put our ideas and innovations into it.
This academic semester, 4th year architecture students at the school of architecture, College of Science and Technology at the University of Rwanda, under the guidance of landscape architect and urban designer Dr. Rahman Tafahomi, undertook a very inspiring research work on the car-free zone and have come up with design proposals (in 7 groups) on various ways to activate this space.
I plan to tell you their story, in bits, in the coming future—very impressive.
