Editor,

RE: "Rwandan miners turn to Mombasa over mysterious theft of goods in Dar” (The New Times, January 5).

It is better to accept greater costs of doing business and lower margins than to incur the total loss of your valuables and possible insolvency from recklessly handing over your goods into the care of confirmed thieves who have been stealing from you without any consequences.

Perhaps President John Pombe Magufuli’s herculean efforts to sweep the rot of corruption from the Augean Stables that are the Tanzanian Customs and Dar Port authorities may restore sufficient confidence in the port for Rwandan mineral exporters to resume their exports through it.

But it is very early days yet.
