Villager: A taste of their own dentistry

The other day, I overheard some ladies in a pub having a woman to woman talk. One of them was busy telling her sisters that, men were like dogs and that, they should be exploited, "detoothed” and left to their own devices and that, they are as good as nothing!

I vividly remembered a time when many Kigali babes had mastered the art of dentistry to the extent that, if they fell upon you, you would go back home completely toothless. If you wanted to have teeth removed, the place to go was either Kigali or Butare to see the female dentists from the National University, Kigali Health Institute or ULK. Who wouldn’t want their teeth extracted by professionals?

There were these babes who pretended to be Francophone when they met an English speaking client to be and pretended to be Anglophone when they meet a French speaker. So many unsuspecting guys got ‘detoothed’, leaving behind valuables like watches and necklaces to cover the costs.

There was this guy we popularly called Ntakibazo because he always seemed to have a way round each and every problem and was always telling people "ntakibazo” (no problem). After hearing about the detoothers, he decided to travel southwards in a bid to beat their pants down.

On arrival at Butare, Mr. Ntakibazo went to a popular hotel in town called Hotel Ibis. He was able to get a courier to go and invite one of the most famed practitioner from campus to come for a drink, he even told the messenger to ask her to come with at least two of her best friends.

Of course, this was a good invitation and she looked for two of her sisters in act and they descended upon their "stupid prey” (so they thought).

They sat and ate any expensive food they could sink their teeth into, swallowed all the best of drinks, Gilbeys, Amarula, John Walkers etc.

These creatures were tough, about four hours into the act, none of them was showing any signs of getting tipsy! Judging by the rate at which they were consuming, they could have gone on until the next morning.

Now, Ntakibazo assured them that, he wanted to spend a night with their ring leader and that; he had two friends who were en route to Butare from Kigali, who would take care of the other two.

By this time, the bill was in the range of US$300, the phone rang and Mr. Ntakibazo was called to answer it (this had been pre planned). He walked back to the ladies and informed them that, his two friends had just arrived in town and that; he was going to collect them.

This was the last they saw of him, they waited and waited and waited until they realised that, they had been beaten at their own game.

The hotel management descended upon them for payment and since they had been left to their own devices, they were forced to pay with the little cash they had leaving behind all their valuables like shoes, watches, necklaces, name it.
