The DR Congo national football team arrived in Rubavuon Thursdaymorning ahead ofSunday’sinternational friendly match against Rwanda at Umuganda Stadium.

Florent Ibenge’s side arrived aboard Congoair from Kinshasha to Goma and crossed-over to Rwanda via Rubavu border where they will be staying at Gorilla Hotel. They will use Umuganda training turf on Thursday,FridayandSaturdaybefore meeting Amavubion Sunday.

This is second time both sides will be playing after Rwanda beat them in 2004 African Cup of Nations which was held in Tunisia, thanks to the lone goal from Said Abedi Makasi.

Before traveling to Rwanda, the head coach of Leopards Florent Ibenge told reporters that he expects the game against Rwanda to be competitive, and will help him to continue his preparations for CHAN.

"We know Rwanda has young talented players so we hope to see a competitive game which will help us to continue our preparations for CHAN matches that we have in Huye,” he said.

DR Congo is grouped in Pool B together with Cameroon, Ethiopia and Angola. The Democratic Republic of Congo won the first CHAN edition in 2009 in Ivory Coast.
