The Great Lakes Region has been in the spotlight for conflicts and violence, but new developments in the so-called Horn of Africa are changing the outlook of what region is worse than the other.

Look, Djibouti’s president has said his country will have to go to war with Eritrea unless the UN acts to resolve growing tensions over a border dispute. This is not a joke; the two countries are involved in deep conflicts that may see them fight.

The Sudan and Somalia too are embroiled in conflict and violence. This puts the whole Horn of Africa actually in a terrible situation, where wars have become the order of the day.

The leaders of these countries are urged to change their ways, and not continue pursuing policies that are not about to give their people any peace.

The biggest problem is that leaders pursue their own agenda and not the people who put them in power in the first place, or for whom all of them claim they are fighting to give a better life.

Ultimately, even after many years of suffering and untold grief, everyone finds out that no leader, however great, is greater than his people.
