The National referendum on revised Constitution, held Friday, passed without any incident, the Rwanda National Police (RNP) has said.

According to a Police statement, the referendum, which involved a lot of movement of people to and from polling centres across the country, escorting electoral materials to and from National Electoral Commission head offices, and ensuring security around polling centres, was flawless.

"RNP would like to thank all Rwandans for their partnership and support that led to the smooth, secure and incident-free referendum on December 18, in a usual calm environment,” reads the statement signed by Police spokesperson Celestin Twahirwa.

"RNP appreciates the partnership of other stakeholders in ensuring security during and after the exercise. This was another milestone in policing a major national event, an achievement we also attribute to all our esteemed policing partners.”
