President Paul Kagame yesterday received a group of 25 students from Stanford Graduate School of Business at Village Urugwiro in Kigali.

The students are in the country on a study tour aimed at learning about the entrepreneurship climate in Rwanda and its role in socio-economic transformation.

Speaking to the media shortly after the meeting, Chris Gomes, who is leading the students, said their discussion tackled several topics ranging from Rwanda’s history and rebuilding process after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and the political climate in the country following the just-concluded referendum on constitution amendment.

"The President was helpful in talking about those topics, talking about referendum and the future of Rwanda. We talked at length about what the referendum means to the people, and came to understand that it came from the peoples’ will,” said Gomez.

"The discussions helped us understand how Rwanda can be an excellent place for investment and how foreign governments and businesses can look at Rwanda as a place to invest,” he said.

The students’ stay in Rwanda is part of Stanford School of Business "Social Innovation study trip 2015” that also included Uganda.

The group included students from across the globe, including the US, Thailand, Uganda and Nigeria.

The trip is the second of its kind this year with the previous trip in March of this year.
