Last year’s runners-up, Charity cricket club defeated defending champions White Clouds in the final of the 2015 UAE Exchange & Xpress Money Women’s T20 tournament over the weekend at Kicukiro cricket ground.

White Clouds batters had all it takes to defend the title but their low score of 37 all out in 12.4 overs showed otherwise. White Clouds score card looked miserable with 4 ducks and all the others having single figures.

It was the good bowling spells of Diane Bimenyimana’s 3/10 in 3.4 overs and Delphine Mukarangwa’s 3/07 in 3 overs, that did the most damage to the defending champions’ batters, among them, national team players Iriho Veronica (04) and Betty Mukunzi (05).

Charity passed White Clouds score in just 9.2 overs with 4 wickets to spare. Claudine Uwase, the Charity CC captain was overjoyed by win and said, "After losing last year, this time we deserved it.”

Meanwhile, Challengers CC secured their place in the final of the men’s UAE Exchange & Xpress Money 50-over Premier League after beating Kerala Hunters CC in the semi-final by 33 runs on Sunday.

After winning the toss, Challengers posted 194 all out in 44.1 overs, thanks to Daniel Ruyange (43 runs) and Siraji Nsubuga (28 runs) whose consistence has been the backbone for the team.

Kerala Hunters new signing and Ugandan professional Frank Nsubuga didn’t disappoint with the ball, picking 4 wickets in his allotted 10 overs.

Kerala Hunter’s chase started on a wrong note with the top four batsmen falling quickly without making a huge difference.

Pravith Presannaraj (7), Sibin Puthenpurayil (1), Ivan Thawithemwira (4) and Frank Nsubuga (0) were all out after being put under too much pressure from Challenger’s bowlers Subhasis Samal 1/33, Sudheer Reddy 3/26 and Mehbub Shaikh 2/18.

However, Shijit Kallada’s nock of 57 runs helped Kerala Hunters get to 161, 33 runs short of Challenger’s 194. Challengers will face Right Guards in the final on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket ground.
