Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have provided basic training in computer science to teachers of All Saints Primary School at Rajaf East Payam for a period of two months.

The subjects covered include basic concepts of computer science, word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel), Power Point presentation (Microsoft Power Point) and Internet.

Presiding over the ceremony of awarding certificates to the 17 teachers who successfully completed the first phase, the Rwandan Contingent Commander, Lt Col John Muvunyi, said the course aimed at equipping the teachers with basic training in Computer Science to help them develop their career and community in general.

"This training is aimed at equipping each one of you with new technologies, skills and knowledge that will help you in your professional lives and your communities,” he said.

On behalf of the trained teachers, the Director of All Saints Primary School, Peter Nafuo, advised the beneficiaries to take full ownership of the knowledge and skills gained.

The training project of computer science was recommended by the UNMISS officials and Juba County Commissioner Stephen Wani Michael during their visit to Rwanbatt-6 (Rwandan contingent) headquarters on October 24.

The officials commended Rwandan forces for their dedication and initiatives towards the development of the community.
