Local artistes excite Huye revelers

A blend of established and upcoming artistes this past Saturday headed to the University of Rwanda - College of Arts and Social Sciences in Huye District where they entertained the students and locals in an event dubbed ‘The Fusion’.

A blend of established and upcoming artistes this past Saturday headed to the University of Rwanda - College of Arts and Social Sciences in Huye District where they entertained the students and locals in an event dubbed ‘The Fusion’. 

The curtain raisers, most who are Huye campus students, kicked off at 8pm with Leon Dare who was the first artiste on stage with his two songs, namely ‘Finally’ and ‘Love to dance’ in a performance that left the crowd surprised because not many knew that he was a singer. His performance was followed by that of other upcoming artistes who included Emmanuel Siborurema (Emmy.zo), the Abakangurambaga crew, and Frankay, among others.

And the main acts of the night were ready to perform, the line-up started with ‘Super Brothers’, who at 10pm, took to the stage performing some of their songs including their new tracks ‘Wikozeho’ and ‘Let them talk’. They were followed by Kid Gaju, who also had a great performance singing some of his hit songs like ‘Gahunda’, ‘Ndakurwaye’ and ‘Njyenyine’ and it was clear that the students knew almost all of them, since they sang along to every song.

With hits like ‘Rurayunguruye’, Hansange, Ndi Serieux, and Turambarana; ‘Social Mula; was next and he proved to everyone why he is one of the well known artistes in the land.

The icing on the cake came when singers Riderman and Knowless took to the stage to perform. The hall exploded into wild cheers, screams, and ululations as each of the two performed their bit.

According to the organiser of the concert, Theo Twahirwa, the event sought to help entertain Huye residents, especially the varsity. He added that it was also partly to launch his new entertainment company called ‘Real Entertainment’.

The show also attracted various DJs, music producers, and journalists.
