Following Kenya’s failure to defend the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, their team manager, Willis Waliaula, and the goalkeeping coach, Mathews Owino Ottamax, have relinquished their jobs with immediate effect.

Waliaula cited unprofessionalism on the part of the federation for failure to clear unpaid hotel bills that led to the confiscation of his passport.

As quoted by Futaa.com, Waliaula, who replaced former manager Simon Mulama, said: "I have resigned as the Team Manager of the national team. I cannot take this anymore; the federation should learn to handle things professionally. I have served the national team diligently and I feel it is time to focus on other things.”

Ottamax took over the role of coaching the Harambee Stars’ goalkeepers from Salim Iddi. By press time, no official comment had been given by the Kenya Football Federation.

Kenya lost to Rwanda in the quarter-finals after falling 5-3 in post match penalties after normal time had ended goal-less. Rwanda are set to play Uganda in the final on Saturday while hosts Ethiopia face Sudan in the battle for third place.
