MTN Rwandacell will this Friday stage its annual MTN Ericsson Invitational Golf tournament at Kigali Golf Club as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.

The telecommunications company CEO Themba Khumalo and Ericsson’s representative Adem Sumertas will be part of 60 golfers teeing off in the one-day tournament.

Ahead of this event, the MTN senior marketing manager Yvone Makolo told Times Sport that one of the reasons for staging the annual tournament is to try and help the company interact with its corporate clients.

She also said that the tournament is the first of many customer contact events that the company will be hosting to commemorate the anniversary.

The tournament has been scheduled for Friday as opposed to Saturday as part of the club’s drive to join East Africa’s corporate style.

"In the region, corporate tournaments are normally held on Fridays so we are trying to move in that direction as well,” the club’s public relations officer Henry Rugamba said.

Early this year, a similar event was held to compensate for 2007 where the company failed to stage one.

Fraterne Rubangura won the 2007 edition after returning scores of 71net but if he can retain the trophy remains to be seen.
