Mukura Victory Sports walloped AS Kigali, who had already qualified, 3-0 to reach the semi-finals of inaugural StarTimes-sponsored Christmas Cup at Mumena stadium on Sunday.
Mukura’s goals were scored by Christophe Ndayishimiye with a brace and Amani Mugisho added the third. "I am happy to reach the semi-finals; we are going to prepare the team ahead of the next game, which will be tough,” Mukura coach Godfrey Okoko said.
The former Burundian forward added that, "We want to win the semi-final match. My players know that we want this trophy, and we have a strong team which can do much better against any team so we are ready for the competition.”
AS Kigali, who still lead group B despite the loss on Sunday, and Mukura, will know their semi-final opponents after the end of the group A matches; Rayon Sports vs Kiyovu and SC Villa vs Gicumbi FC that were due to be played on Monday.
Police and Bukavu Dawa were eliminated from the tournament on Sunday.
