Rwanda Commercial Bank (BCR)’s managing director David Kuwani has called for more golf support.

Speaking at the closing function of Saturday’s BCR monthly mug, the BCR chief who is also a member of the Kigali Golf Club appealed to corporate companies to emulate what his bank had done over the last two years.

"We (KGC) are appealing to all corporate companies out there to come and support the game of golf by sponsoring golf tournaments,” Kuwani said.

Since 2005, BCR has bankrolled a running monthly competition dubbed BCR monthly mug which has turned out to be one of the most prestigious events on the club’s annual calendar.

The 2006/7 BCR monthly mug season is set to climax next month with a joint BCR monthly mug-mug of mug competition.

According to the KGC captain Rajan Tiwari, the mug of mugs event will merge golfers who finished off in the first three spots during the 2006/7 season while the rest will take part in the October monthly mug.

Rwanda’s rising golfer Thierry Ntaganda and Jean Baptiste Hakizimana are some of the favorites for the Mug of Mugs competition.

The pair has won eight monthly mugs between themselves this season and is destined for a tough contest next month.
