Senior members of Toastmasters Club and well wishers will on Saturday convene at the Innovation Village in Kigali for the official launch of the club in Rwanda.

The event, expected to attract at least 200 entrepreneurs, professionals and student leaders, will involve many activities, but key on the agenda will be training participants in the art of public speaking.

"After the official launch, we shall ensure that we provide a safe and friendly environment where anyone can develop their public speaking skills, build their confidence basing on constructive feedback,” said Joshua Tahinduka, the club president.

Tahinduka added that the world needs leaders to head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others, but that these have to sharpen their skills before taking on duties.

"These leaders must not only accomplish these tasks, but they must communicate effectively. By delivering speeches regularly, receiving feedback, leading teams and guiding others,” he added.

Rwanda Toastmasters Club is part of the global network of clubs from Toastmasters International (TI), a world leader in communication and leadership development. With a worldwide membership of more than 332,000 members, TI provides a platform for people to become effective public speakers and sharpen their leadership skills by attending one of the 15,400 clubs in 135 countries.
