Taekwondo team leaves Paris, heads to Agadir

Rwanda national taekwondo team jets off to Moroccan coastal city of Agadir to participate in the Morocco International Taekwondo Open scheduled for November 27-29.

The team has been Paris where they held a seven-day training camp alongside their French national team counterparts. The team of four players, two men and two women, has been the French capital for the past two weeks where they had gone to compete in the Tournoi International de Paris.

However, the tournament was cancelled hours before kick-off after a coordinated series of terror attacks in Paris last Friday night that claimed at least 130 lives.

Speaking to Sunday Sport by phone from Paris, the national team head coach Allan Irene Bagire revealed that their two-week spell in Paris has been a is a big opportunity for them in terms of gaining valuable experience.

The team to participate Morocco International Taekwondo Open includes Regis Iyumva (U-58kg), Cedrick Mwemezi (U-68kg), Aline Ndacyayisenga (U-57kg) and Zura Mushambokazi (U-49kg). 

Rwanda is looking to use the three-day event to prepare for the qualifiers of the 2016 Olympic Games also to be hosted in Morocco from February 13 to 14, 2016.
