POETRY: THE TEARS OF A BLACK CHILD

Listen to the mourning child under a leafless shadowy tree

The dry throat has elapsed the purity of water

The mouth cracked by the burns of the searing sunrays

Offer to those worth mercy begging tiny hands

Stare in those blameless teary eyes that saw fire and blood

Talk to those lips that open up to plead

Hold the helpless hands that need a compassionate aid

With your whole soul and charity embrace the bony hungry little child

Weep away the tears that troll down on the sorrowed little face

Lead his fractured feet through a buoyant pace

Sing the sweet love lullabies to put him to sleep.
