RE: "Lead experts’ on Rwanda and their parallel universe” (The New Times, November 13).

If Filip Reyntjens was the advisor of the government that planned the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, then the shameless expert has no locus stand to spell any matter concerning this country.

Rwanda was poorer, people lived in extreme poverty, and ignorance contributed significantly to a section of the population to turn on their compatriots. We know the repercussions of the "expertise” he provided to then President Juvénal Habyarimana — genocide and all manner of evil.

Rwanda cannot afford to sit back waiting for someone to come and carry out research about the level of poverty among its people. And why should I trust IMF, World Bank…and not the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda?

Whoever thinks that Rwandans have fenced poverty in a perimeter wall like a precious metal can do better.
