RE: "Put mechanisms to protect diaspora investors” (The New Times, November 13).
I thank Mwene Kalinda for his constructive thoughts and valid cautiousness. Cytonn Diaspora opened offices in Washington D.C. and is currently serving Kenyans who want to invest back in Kenya.
Being able to harness diaspora remittances into economic development is critical to development, as we have seen with countries such as India and Israel who have successfully mobilized and deployed diaspora remittances into development.
So it seems that so far we are in agreement that a platform to channel investments from the Rwandan diaspora back into Rwanda, especially Kigali, is important. If that be the case, we highly welcome the government involvement and monitoring.
Cytonn has a history of zealously protecting investors’ interests—we do not comprise the interests of our investors—earning the best return for investors, giving the best client service and protecting their interest is the means for our livelihood.
So in short, we invite partnership with and scrutiny by the government anytime.
