Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) has made a huge leap forward after receiving full membership with World Rugby, the sport’s international ruling body.
This comes after a previous application by the RFF in 2013 that was turned down after World Rugby deemed Rwanda short of requirements, which led the federation to lay a one-year plan to meet the requirements.
RRF president Alex Araire said that, "Our efforts and commitments have paid off, it's very good news for Rwandan rugby. Getting full memberships is proof that the sport in Rwanda is growing.”
Araire noted that, with full membership, Rwanda will be eligible to various privileges enjoyed by other full members and participate in World Rugby activities.
He thanked Ministry of Sport and Culture (MINISPOC), Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) for their role in making sure Rwanda joins the World Rugby family. Rwanda becomes the 103th full member with World Rugby.
