RwandAir and the Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) on Friday renewed their partnership to support cycling activities in the country for the next 12 months.
The support includes free air for riders, officials and their equipment when going for competitions across the seventeen routes operated by the national carrier.
As part of the agreement, Team Muhabura, one of the three teams representing the country in this year’s Tour du Rwanda, will wear the airline’s branded jersey. The 7th edition of Tour du Rwanda, a UCI Africa 2.2 race starts today and runs until November 22.
"The national carrier is proud to be associated with the Rwanda Cycling Federation and commends the achievements done in developing cycling which is part of the strategy to market the country’s potential.
The support is therefore in line with our corporate social responsibility and seeks to support innovative talents while boosting the country’s sports culture,” RwandAir Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer, Jean-Paul Nyirubutama told Sunday Sport.
Rwanda’s Cycling Federation president Aimable Bayingana said, "The renewed partnership is a great milestone that will help boost our capacity to compete effectively during the various competitions.”
