APR FC forward Djamar Mwiseneza is expected to be out of action for at least six months after undergoing a successful knee surgery two weeks ago in Morocco.

The Rwanda international has been on the sidelines since February, and is expected to return to action in late April or early May 2016.

The 30-year old Mwiseneza, who crossed to APR from archrivals Rayon Sports at the beginning of the 2014/2015 season, picked a serious left-knee injury on February 22in a league clash against his former club, which the army side won by 4-0. The Rayon Sports academy product headed to Morocco on October 21 for surgery alongside Isonga FC’s Evode Ngabotsinze, also knee injury.

"The surgery was successful and the doctors told me I will be fit to play after six months. It is unfortunate that I will not be able to play for my club or country for all this long but I hope to return stronger,” Mwiseneza told Times Sport from Morocco.

He added, "It’s hard to confirm if I will be able to play a part in the league but I will surely play in the later stages of the Peace Cup, in case my team reaches that far.” 

Apart from the two footballers in Morocco, goalkeepers Aime Regis Ingabire and Jean Claude Ndoli, Faustin Usengimana, Eric Nsabimana, Farouk Ruhinda and Ibrahim Itangishaka have undergone similar operations in Algeria.

Both Mwiseneza and Ngabitsinze are expected back in the country at the end of this month to continue their rehabilitation at home.
