Defending champions APR FC defeated bottom side AS Muhanga 3-1 to go into third position with 18 points, level with second-placed Rayon Sports, who won 2-0 against Sunrise on Friday.

Midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi netted a brace while striker Bernabe Mubumbyi added another to guide the military side to victory in the Azam Rwanda Premier League match played on Saturday at Kicukiro stadium.

The military side profited also from Police FC’s 1-1 draw against SC Kiyovu in a game played at Amahoro stadium which has left Andre Casa Mbungo’s team in fourth position with 17 points while Kiyovu dropped to 7th place with 14 points.

Leaders AS Kigali also have 18 points but have played a game less after their encounter with Musanze FC was postponed due to Saturday afternoon heavy downfall.

Goals from Bodo Ndikumana and Burundian import Pierro Kwizera earned valuable points for Sosethene Habimana’s Rayon Sports, who moved into second position with 18 points and are level with AS Kigali but have an inferior goal difference. Sunrise FC remains in ninth position with 10 points.

Espoir FC held Mukura Victory Sports to a goalless draw, leaving Godfroid Okoko’s team in fifth position with 17 points, while the former moved into 9th place with 10 points.

Promoted Bugesera FC registered their second win of the season with a 1-0 win over lowly Marines—Bugesera’s goal was scored by captain David Nzabanita Saibad.

After this weekend’s matches, the league will take a month-long break to allow room for the national team to prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup second round qualifiers against Libya as well as the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia. The league will resume on December 12.
