National league rivals University of Rwanda College of Arts and Social Sciences and IPRC-South will face-off in semi-finals of this year’s inter-universities basketball tournament today.

The competition, which started in April, was put on hold in May due to examinations and holidays. It resumes today and climaxes on Sunday with finals in all disciplines at the UR-CASS.

Charles Mushumba’s UR-CASS reached the round of four after finishing top of pool A that also included UR-Nyagatare Campus and UR-Nyamishaba Campus.

IPRC-South qualified for the semis as pool B leaders ahead of UR- College of Sciences and Technology (UR-CST) and UR- Musanze Campus.

"We are determined to win this tournament; we have had enough preparations. The players are fit and ready to deliver,” IPRC-South coach Didier Bineza vowed on Friday.

Last year, the IPRC-South reached semi-finals but were denied a ticket to final by their IPRC-Kigali counterparts, who went on to lose to defending champions UR-CASS in the final.

Champions in different sporting disciplines will qualify for East African Inter-Universities Championships slated for later this year in Rwanda.
