KCB Bank Rwanda last week conducted free breast cancer screening as part of activities to wrap up the awareness campaign of the disease.
Among the activities, the bank’s female staff were also sensitised about the disease.
"Women are most prone to the disease; so we brought them together to sensitise them about the dangers, early testing and treatment,” said Sharon Mbabazi, the corporate communications manager at KCB Rwanda.
Medics say it remains essential that the general public be educated about the early signs of different types of cancer.
"With our joint efforts, we suppose that we can enhance awareness about breast cancer in the country. It is through such innovations that we shall be able to reach out to as many women as possible,” Mbabazi added.October was dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer.
The KCB drive was also intended to honour people who are battling the disease.
Dr Heba Salama, a gynecologist who attended last week’s event, said the capacity to fight cancer in the country is high since there are specialists at every government hospital in the country.
