AS Kigali thrashed Espoir 3-0 to retain the lead in the Azam Rwanda Premier League in Rusizi on Saturday.

Rwanda international striker Ernest Sugira netted twice and midfielder Janvier Cyubahiro added another to guide the City of Kigali-sponsored club to their fourth league win of the season, which helped them leapfrog Mukura from top with 15 points from seven matches.

Nshimiyimana praised his players for a strong mentality and crucial away win but challenged them to stay grounded and focused on Wednesday when they take on Amagaju FC at Mumena Stadium.

"I am happy for the victory because it’s very difficult to beat Espoir at their place. However, we’ve to stay calm and prepare well for the next fixture against Amagaju on Wednesday,” the former APR coach said after the match.

Elsewhere, Fiston Nkizingabo inspired APR FC to a hard fought 1-0 win over Sunrise at Kicukiro stadium to move into second position with 14 points, while SC Kiyovu overcame lowly Etincelles 3-1 to jump into third place with 13 points.

Sosthene Habimana’s Rayon Sports snatched an away 1-0 win at Rwamagana through Burundian international Pierro Kwizera.

Ali Bizimungu’s Bugesera FC played out a 1-all draw against Musanze at Nyamata ground.
