Emmanuel Ruremesha’s Gicumbi FC will go into Sunday’s Azam Rwanda Premier League match against Police eyeing to become the first side to defeat the team sitting in third place in the table standing.

The Gicumbi-based club, on 8th position with nine points, is known for pulling off stunning results against the top teams in the championship, will be seeking to stop high-flying Andre Casa Mbungo’s Police FC.

Gicumbi defeated Police 1-0 in the league second round at Kicukiro stadium last season, and will be seeking to make it two wins in a row against the Peace Cup winners.

"Police is a big club that I have full respect for, we have to be watchful, nonetheless, we want to be the first team to beat them this season. It won’t be an easy task but it is an achievable we are determined to attain on Sunday” former Espoir FC technician Ruremesha said on Saturday.

Last season, Police won 1-0 over Gicumbi in the first round in Gicumbi and the later returned the favour in the second round by the same score.

On Friday, Mukura overwhelmed struggling AS Muhanga 3-1 to provisionally go top of the table standings with 13 points, one ahead of AS Kigali, who were due to face Espoir FC on Saturday.
