Injured local football players have undergone medical assessment by Dr. Hefti Abderrazak, a vastly experienced medical expert from Moroccan FA.

The exercise, which started on Tuesday at FERWAFA headquarters in Remera, is part of the partnership between Rwanda Football Association and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) aimed at benefitting Rwanda in three aspects including holding training camps in Morocco, infrastructure and advanced treatment for the injured players.

Dr. Hefti, a Surgeon in Sports Medicine and team doctor for the Morocco national football team, was accompanied by Essadik Alaoui, who is in charge of International Relations for the RMFF.

On the first day, Dr. Hefti examined five players with assistance of Amavubi team physiotherapist Patrick Rutamu and APR FC team doctor, Lt. Jacques Twagirayezu.

The players assessed on Tuesday include; former Mukura and Police striker Emmanuel ‘Crespo’ Sebanani, former Isonga defender Pacifique Uwimana, Claude Nduwimana from Hope Academy (all with knee injuries) and APR FC goalkeeper Steven Ntalibi, who has a shoulder injury.

Following the end of the first assessment Dr. Hefti told the media that, considering the capacity of doctors that he has met here, he believes there is no need of taking any of these players abroad for surgeries.

"The needed treatment can be done here -I am sure with the experience and capacity of your experienced and skilled doctors, these players would recover quickly under the recommended rehabilitation process,” said Dr. Hefti.

Hefti came to Rwanda after carrying out surgery on APR midfielder Djamal Mwiseneza and Isonga FC holding midfielder Evode Ngabotsinze (both knee) in Morocco last week.

The second phase of the assessment was due to be carried out on Thursday and clubs had been asked to bring injured players for examination.
