RE: "$10m Kigali project to create over 2, 000 jobs” (The New Times, October 27).

Similar building panels are also made from gypsum. Gypsum panels (commonly known as drywall) are widely used in North America.

I believe some East African countries have plenty of the mineral that we could all benefit from. I am told we import gypsum from Kenya as an ingredient used in our cement industry. Why can’t we import more and use it to manufacture gypsum panels (drywall) for our construction industry?

Given the current and future demand of cheap construction materials I am not sure if Strawteck will get sufficient raw material for panel production. Gypsum is another raw material to consider may be in the future.
