President impressed by positive changes in the North

BURERA - President Paul Kagame yesterday visited the Northern Province and commended the district’s change for the better. He urged residents to build on achievements and spur development and said hard work and using the resources available will improve the welfare of Rwandans and raise their general standards of living. BURERA - President Paul Kagame yesterday visited the Northern Province and commended the district’s change for the better.

He urged residents to build on achievements and spur development and said hard work and using the resources available will improve the welfare of Rwandans and raise their general standards of living.

Addressing residents of Butaro sector in Burera district, the President said that peace should be used to exploit the resources.

The President also visited various new projects in the area including the ongoing construction of Rugezi mini hydropower project, the Kawuko project which turns sugarcane into wine, a honey processing project and Gahunga modern market.

The president said that good governance, unity, reconciliation and security must be maintained and should set a trend of sustainable development.   

The district Mayor Aimé Bosenibamwe highlighted developments in the district including the building of a new hospital in Butaro funded by the Clinton Foundation.

He cited the newly constructed roads from Rulindo and Musanze districts leading to the Burera district, five new markets across the district and access to clean water as some of the district’s developments.
