Rayon Sports assistant coach Sosthène Habimana believes his side is heading in the right direction after securing a more than deserved draw against archrivals and defending league champions APR FC on Saturday at Amahoro stadium.

The much anticipated clash ended in a goalless draw with the Blues giving the best performance of the two teams, yet given the circumstances surrounding the club in the lead-up to the game, Habimana, who was in charge, in the absence of head coach David Donadei, admits a point is a welcome relief.

"I think we played well and created a lot of chances to win the game but we failed to score, nevertheless, I am happy with draw. The coordination in our team is finally starting to show and I know that we shall get even better,” the former Rayon Sports player said.

Following the goalless draw Rayon Sports, moved into sixth position with nine points while APR remain third with

11 points, one behind leaders Police FC, who also drew 1-1 with Sunrise.

Habimana added that, "This shows that the boys are hungry to win and they are gaining more confidence which is good for the team ahead of the upcoming fixtures.”

Rayon Sports’ Savio Dominique Nshuti, Davis Kasirye and Alex Ndacyayisenga had opportunities to score but were all denied by Olivier Kwizera, who had an outstanding afternoon in APR goal.

His counterpart Emmanuel Rubona said, "We tried our best to get a goal but we failed. It was a tough game because everyone needed a win but it is not bad to get one point” Rubona said.

Police played 1-all against Sunrise which pushed them to the top of league table with 12 points. Striker Isaie Songa scored his fifth league goal in six games in the 85th minute to equalize for Andre Casa Mbungo’s Police.
