Collaborations and solo performances bringing together 16 artistes including poets, guitarists, singers/songwriters, rappers and percussionists, will take center stage at the Kiyovu based ‘The Office’ in The Art House’s maiden event tonight.
Collaborations and solo performances bringing together 16 artistes including poets, guitarists, singers/songwriters, rappers and percussionists, will take center stage at the Kiyovu based ‘The Office’ in The Art House’s maiden event tonight.
The Art House is a local initiative spearheaded by artistes, writers, visual artistes and stage performers to create and connect artists and creative talents within the region and beyond, to collaborate and develop their artworks.
Dubbed ‘Beats and Poetry’, the event kicks off at 2PM and will end at 8PM.
Speaking to The New Times in an interview, the founder of The Art House; Phoebe Mutetsi, said that the event is one of the many that are being organized to inspire talent and also give entertainment options to Kigali arts lovers.
"Kigali is a small community that is short of entertainment, but again it has got lots of creative startups. We want to make sure we put together all these creative energies and definitely do something great for them. We therefore want to develop our artistes and also inspire young people in the industry,” she said.
The event will feature Rwandan artistes; Mike Kayihura, Eric1Key, Iyadede, popular poet Angel Mutoni, fashion designer and poet Naleli Diana Rugege, Natasha Muhoza, Teta Miranda , Jason Ntaro and drummer Mark Hitter Ejukua, among others.
Ife Piankhi - a Nigerian poet will also perform and Ugandan comedian, Omara Daniel Pkwiiyuli will host the show.
The show is free of charge but donations are welcome.
