POETRY: DON’T FORGET ME

Spoke to your sister this morning She said you are leaving town

Spoke to your sister this morning

She said you are leaving town

I know you’ve made some changes

But I know there is no change in my heart

I am not certain about you

Yet we’ve been through this a million times

My mind can’t stop spinning over

Will you remember me when you are gone

far away into the silent land;

where our hearts will yearn for each other

will you remember our days?

I know that by sundown you’ll be in the west

But one thing I don’t know

Is if you will hung in there

When you can no longer hold me by the hand,

Will you remember me when we are no more day by day

Will hold unto the future we have been predicting together

I left a picture on your front seat

And here is ma number

Once you reach downtown

Don’t forget me

I know having me makes no difference

But it does to my heart

I know I might be a control freak

But forget me not

And give me a reason to move forward
