In a drive to attract more Rwandan students to Turkish Universities, Edugate, an education consultancy, has organised the second Turkish universities education fair due to take place  in Kigali today.

According to Caglar Candir, the public relations officer of Edugate, seven universities will participate in the fair. They are; Ipek University, Meliksah University, Mevlana University, Gediz University, Zirve University, Turgut Ozal University and Bursa Orhangazi University.

Representatives of the different universities will make presentations on  education opportunities in Turkey.

"We believe that education in Turkey is very affordable and of a high quality. The tuition fees in private universities ranges from $6,000 to $9,000 per year in medicine, yet in the rest of Europe and USA, it goes as high as $20,000,” he said.

"Among the opportunities to be discussed is that of scholarships. Successful students with a good academic performance in the first academic year will get scholarships from any of the seven Universities,” Candir added.

In the past years, over 100 Rwandan students were attracted to study in Turkey.

According to Candir, many of the lectures use their native languages.

"This helps students to find a perfect environment to learn foreign languages. So far, there are quite a number of students within Edugate who are learning English, French, Turkish and many others,” he said.

"Turkey is our dominant destination for our students.  Since the first Turkish Universities Education Fair in March, we have received many inquiries  from Rwandan students regarding education in Turkey.”
