After missing out on the handball league title to archrivals Police, APR handball club coach Anaclet Bagirishya has vowed to make amends in the Carré d’As tournament set for Saturday at UR-College of Education ground.
The Carré d’As tournament is played on a round-robin among the top four clubs in the league — this year’s tourney will have champions Police as well as APR, Ecole Secondaire Kigoma and College Inyeramihigo, who finished in second, third and fourth place respectively.
"The games are going to be tough because none of the teams is an underdog but we are confident of claiming this title,” Bagirishya told Saturday Sport yesterday.
APR have won the Carré d’As tournament in 2009 while Police have won thrice in 2011, 2012, and 2014, however; this year APR have won three trophies including East African Military games, Genocide Memorial tourney and Liberation day tourney.
Police retained the league title with 49 points scoring 584 goals and conceding 379.
