NORTHERN PROVINCE
Police have arrested a business man holding over Frw200,000 in counterfeit currency. Mwanago Evas , a resident of Gitarama, was caught trying to use the money to buy goods in Musanze District. The bills come from Kampala, where they are traded to Muhima.
According to Evas himself, as soon as the Frw200,000 was spent, he would have made an order for Frw500,000. He promised to cooperate with the police and reveal the person who had allegedly given him the money.
District police commander Dan Ndayambaje said that there was a crackdown on such crimes, and the perpetrators would eventually be arrested.
