Mukura Victory Sports beat Azam Rwanda Premier League leaders Police FC 3-2 in a friendly match Saturday at Muhanga Regional Stadium.
It was somewhat sweet revenge for Godfroid Okoko’s side, who lost 2-1 to the law enforcers’ side on the opening day of the season at the same venue on September 18. Huye-based Mukura are 8th in the league with 6 six points after four matches.
Mukura scored their goals through Bertin Dusenge, Jean Pierre Gasongo and Yussuf Habimana, while Andre Casa Mbungo’s side scored through Innocent Twagirimana and Idrisbald Nshuti.
Okoko said the win against the unbeaten league leaders is a huge confidence booster for his side ahead of the league return when they host Sunrise FC on Sunday.
In another friendly game, Emmanuel Ruremesha’s Gicumbi FC defeated second division side Interforce FC 1-0 courtesy of Dominique Nshimiyimana’s lone goal.
The Azam Rwanda Premier League is currently on a two-week break due to the ongoing national team training camp in Morocco, but it will resume this weekend.
