With the Azam Rwanda Premier League on the break, Police take on Mukura in a friendly match at Kicukiro stadium, three weeks after the two teams met in the opening match of the Azam Rwanda Premier League, which Police won 2-1 at Muhanga stadium.
Mukura Victory Sports head coach Godfrey Okoko, revealed that his team chose to play against the league leaders and last season’s Peace Cup winners because they (Police) are the team to beat this season.
Okoko said that, "The game is intended to help my players maintain their fitness and match sharpness during the international break. I also want to assess some of the players that have not featured in the league so far this season.”
The Burundian explained that some of the players he wants to assess include left back Daniel Mwiseneza and strikers Jean Pierre Kasongo and Amani Mugisha among others, who have not had enough playing time.
Mukura have only one player, left back Celestin Ndayishimiye on the national team, which is currently in Morocco for a 10-day training camp, while Police has five players in Johnny McKinstry’s squad.
Andre Casa Mbugo’s Police FC are unbeaten so far and lead the league table at the international break after four league games with 10 points, including three wins and one draw while Mukura are on 8th position with six points from two wins and two losses.
