Police FC striker Isaie Songa has urged his teammates to stay focused after he netted the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Rwamagana City in the Azam Rwanda Premier League on Saturday at Rwamagana ground.
The win moved Andre Casa Mbungo’s side to the league summit at least for a day.
Former Sec Academy and Isonga FC forward, Songa scored his third goal of the season to take Police to 10 points while Rwamagana City dropped to tenth with four points.
"It is always good to win every game but it’s very difficult, so we have to stay focused, it’s still too early in the season. The league is going into a break, and it’s good to go off while on the top,” said the former APR and AS Kigali front-man.
Elsewhere, Rayon Sports bagged maximum points against Mukura Victory Sports courtesy of strikes from Pierro Kwizera and Davis Kasirye. The blues are now third with seven points while Mukura dropped to eighth position with six points. Hussein Barack’s Musanze FC and SC Kiyovu, under care-taker coach Aloys Kanamugire in the absence of head coach Innocent Seninga, played out a goalless draw.
On Friday, reigning champions APR FC registered a 2-0 win over Bugesera, thanks to goals by centre back Abdul Rwatubyaye and striker Issa Bigirimana, while Amagaju FC secured a 2-1 win over visitors Espoir in Nyamagabe.
The league has been called off to allow the national team to travel to Morocco for a ten-day training camp in preparations for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Libya due in November as well as the 2016 CHAN finals tournament which will be held in Rwanda from January 16 to February 7.
