Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) have sacked the Programme Manager and Executive Director, Serge Mwambali, for allegedly failing to fulfill his responsibilities, according to the dismissal letter.
In the dismissal letter, signed by RNOSC president, Robert Bayigamba, and which Times Sport has a copy, Mwambali is accused of not doing his work as stated in the contract.
Among the key accusations labeled against him is that he failed to secure visas on time for four athletes, which led to Rwanda not participating in the 55th Commonwealth Youth Games held on September 5-12 in Samoa.
Rwanda was supposed to be represented in two disciplines - tennis and athletics. The athletics team included 14-year-old Beatha Nishimwe and Honoline Iribagiza, 15 while the tennis team was comprised 16-year-old Ernest Habiyambere and Fabrice Tuyishime, 15.
According to the letter, Mwamabali also failed to secure the visas for the Rwandan delegation to attend the 2015 Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly held in Auckland, New Zealand from September 1-2.
Mwamabali, who has been working RNOSC’s Programme Manager since 2008, is also pinned for not compiling reports for his work on time—these reports are normally sent to the Olympic Solidarity. He was named Executive Director in 2010 replace Thierry Ntwari.
