Janiya Investment Limited, a Rwandan firm founded in 2019, hosted two remarkable fashion shows in Kigali and Musanze, under the theme 'Matching Style with Class and Comfort.'
The events aimed to showcase high-quality, locally manufactured clothing, promoting Rwandan fashion excellence and fostering global collaborations with a focus on quality textiles and exquisite craftsmanship.
They featured three rounds, each highlighting different locally produced attire. The first round spotlighted casual wear, emphasizing the fusion of comfort and style in everyday fashion. The second round showcased class attire, displaying sophistication synonymous with Janiya's commitment to excellence.
The final round celebrated unisex clothes, locally designed in a unique way, underlining the brand's dedication to promoting local craftsmanship in particular.
Amidst the runway glamour, Janiya launched its cutting-edge online platform, the ‘Janiya Online Portal’, a digital marketplace that offers a profusion of simple and luxurious goods and services, providing a cost-effective solution for buying, marketing, and selling clothes in the ever-evolving digital era.
Yvette Mukarwema, the visionary CEO of Janiya, shared her thoughts during the event. She emphasized the company's dedication to excellence, unwavering commitment to client satisfaction and the promotion of Rwandan craftsmanship.
"We are a textile manufacturer, launched in 2019 in line with Rwanda's ‘Made in Rwanda’ government program. We started with 30 employees and have increased to 200 permanent and 100 temporary contracts, aiming to produce 2000 batches of clothes per day,” she said.
"Our recent online portal launch is set to hire another 700 workers, targeting young social media users in particular. We're focused on teaching online buying, saving time and transportation.”
In terms of output, Mukarwema mentioned that the company only produces designed clothes however, next year they will expand to fabric manufacturing, anticipating an increase from 2, 000 to 6, 000 batches of clothes per day and workers from 1, 000 to 3, 000.
Mukarwema believes that the ‘Made in Rwanda initiative’ is promising; although it demands patience, arguing that, "our clothing aligns with Rwandans' preferences, distinct from imports and it registered success.”
On Saturday, November 11, Janiya had a second part of the fashion show where it officially introducing its representative in Musaze, Holy One Group, known as H1 shop and its managing director Aline Uwera ( the Janiya representative in the Northern province)
Janiya team had a beautiful experience with Musanze guests who described what they consider in buying clothes. Janiya appreciated the fact that in Musanze the fashion show (according to some Musanze residents) was going to help them overcome their challenges in terms of supply chain.
Tracy Agasaro, a TV presenter and gospel musician, was also announced as the official brand ambassador of Janiya Investment Limited.
Agasaro expressed her excitement, stating, "I am honored to represent Janiya, a brand that mirrors my values of style, quality and faith as a Christian.”
