Re: "Preparations for 2015 Transform Africa Summit in high gear” (The New Times, September 23, 2015).
The summit is yet another opportunity to showcase Rwanda’s ICT and MICE potential.
The summit is expected to attract some 2,500 delegates, not just from the African continent, but also from Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Having attended the first edition of Transform Africa held in 2013, I would endorse the fact that all arrangements made then were top notch. Looking back, the only challenge then was accessing the venue – Kigali Serena Hotel. Of course, one must understand that with so many heads of state in attendance, very tight security would be required.
But the Ministry of Youth and ICT, along with all the other concerned agencies, will have taken note of the challenges experienced during the first edition of Transform Africa summit with view to taking necessary action.
The theme for the upcoming summit, ‘Accelerating Digital Innovation’, seems to be most appropriate in today’s digital age.
The summit will provide an excellent platform for governments and the private sector to discuss and explore business opportunities and possible partnerships. Also notable is that the summit will also give young innovators the opportunity to showcase their ideas and exchange experiences with peers and more experienced players, who could then well support such initiatives.
I wish the Ministry of Youth and ICT a very successful summit, which indeed could transform not only Rwanda, but Africa in the years ahead.
