School marks 50 years of existence

MUSANZE — Ecole de Science de Musanze on Tuesday marked 50 years since it was created.

The celebrations were also combined to recognize the school’s excellence in science subjects after it produced the best student in the country.

The school, formally a boy’s school, has also started admitting girls and now has a population of over 600 students with 200 being girls.

The colorful ceremony , graced by the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Justin Nsengiyumva and the Inspector of schools, Narcise Musabyeyezu, was also attended by the school’s old boys and girls. Bishop Kizito Bahujimihigo, was also among the guests.

Addressing the guests, Jean Claude Mbonimpa, the school’s head teacher hailed the Ministry of Education for the recent financial support of Frw170m towards the renovation of the school-which had been dilapidated.

The school has got three science laboratories including a physics, biology and chemistry laboratory . It also has an equipped computer laboratory.

The school’s last year’s best student acquired a scholarship to study in Harvard, USA where he is currently pursuing his studies.
