Sunrise Football Club head coach Jimmy Mulisa has expressed his interest in transforming the club into strong title challengers ahead of the next league season that will start on September 18.

"We have been doing well in this preseason and we have shown that we are capable of beating any team in the country so we will be challenging for the title next season. I don’t see why we cannot challenge for the league title. Here in Rwanda, teams are on the same level and I believe that we are capable of doing better next season,” said Mulisa.

Mulisa lost the final of the Agaciro Development Fund tournament against Police 1-0, but the former APR forward managed to knockout SC Kiyovu, AS Kigali and Rayon Sports before reaching the final.

He further noted that, "We have shown that we are a better team but what I want is Sunrise to become a big and winning team. My philosophy is to win many trophies and I always tell my players that we are capable of beating any team here in Rwanda so we are ready for the challenge ahead of us.”

Mulisa was appointed one month ago and he is keen to build his side before the start of the season.

"I have a good team but I need to add one striker before the season starts and I believe if I sign one my team will be better.”

The Rwamagana-based side finished in fourth position in their debut season in the league with 40 points after winning 10, drawing 10 and losing six games.
